<strong>Description<br><br></strong>The Amazon Communications team is seeking a driven, detail-oriented, and savvy PR and communications leader for the role of Public Relations Manager, Events. The person who fills this highly visible role will spearhead communications and PR support for seller events, primarily responsible for crafting and executing an impactful press strategy for Accelerate, Amazon’s annual seller conference that brings together thousands of independent sellers and entrepreneurs. In addition to working cross-functionally with numerous teams and stakeholders to successfully execute an earned, owned, and paid program, this person will own special projects to support the broader Selling Partner Services (SPS) Communications team.<br><br>This role can be located in Seattle, WA, New York, NY, or the Washington, D.C. area.<br><br>The successful candidate will be a self-starter who can clearly formulate and communicate PR/communications recommendations and plans to both peers and executives, drive collaborative decisions, build relationships internally and externally, and deliver results. He/she will also be comfortable providing counsel and guidance to a wide variety of counterparts crossing a number of disciplines, will be able to juggle numerous priorities on tight deadlines, and will serve as an organized and thoughtful leader. Additionally, this role will work with a range of media contacts across ecommerce trade and national business publications.<br><br>The ideal candidate will have strong event PR/communications experience, a track record of successfully managing proactive announcements with coverage results, and media relations expertise in both pitching proactive stories on a national scale and managing issues and reactive storylines.<br><br>Key job responsibilities<br><br><ul><li> Lead PR/communications strategy and execution for seller events, namely the annual Accelerate conference</li><li> Manage special projects to support the broader SPS narrative</li><li> Provide counsel to executives and cross-functional teams on PR/communications strategies, approaches, and messaging</li><li> Review and provide PR input on keynote presentations, and other owned content such as blogs and social media</li><li> Develop strategy and content for announcing marquee launches at Accelerate</li><li> Develop and manage relationships with a range of top-tier media contacts</li><li> Write and evolve messaging and talking points for briefing books, FAQs, and overall seller experience narrative</li><li> Build, guide, and execute PR plans, including communicating plans internally and securing leadership approvals</li><li> Successfully manage complex, fast-moving and unexpected communications challenges, both proactively and reactively</li><li> Help manage a third-party agency to support PR activities</li><li> Willingness to represent Amazon as a spokesperson<br><br></li></ul><strong>Basic Qualifications<br><br></strong><ul><li> 7+ years of recent professional communications or public relations experience</li><li> Bachelor's degree</li><li> Program management skills</li><li> Experience in writing and evolving clear messaging and plans<br><br></li></ul><strong>Preferred Qualifications<br><br></strong><ul><li> Minimum of 3+ years of event PR experience</li><li> The ability to dive deep and understand how to position complex concepts clearly for maximum news value</li><li> Track record of developing creative, effective approaches to difficult communications challenges</li><li> The ability to concisely and effectively express your point of view</li><li> A knack for diplomacy and the confidence to engage and build consensus with leaders at all levels</li><li> Crisis communications and issues management chops</li><li> Combination of in-house and agency PR experience with global reach</li><li> Excellent written and oral communication skills</li><li> The ability to understand and work with complex concepts</li><li> Very strong attention to detail and organizational skills</li><li> Strong ability to work in an ambiguous environment and quickly identify solutions to problems<br><br></li></ul>Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.<br><br>Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers. The base pay for this position ranges from $114,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $188,500/year in our highest geographic market.
