As an underwriter intermediate or senior for our Business Owners Insurance team, you’ll be responsible for underwriting all major functions within our commercial lines underwriting unit. You’ll set premiums, perform extensive research, and communicate underwriting information to agents and insureds.

Additionally, you’ll review, evaluate, and price business by applying sound underwriting judgement and adhering to company policies and state regulations.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Underwrite new and renewal business in addition to processing endorsements, inspection reviews, and premium audits
  • Manually rate risks while understanding the components that drive price
  • Train new underwriters on new states, risk types, and complex underwriting issues

Must-have qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED equivalent or higher and a minimum five years relevant commercial lines, insurance industry, and/or underwriting experience.
  • {OR} Bachelor's degree or higher and a minimum two years relevant commercial lines, insurance industry, and/or underwriting experience.

Preferred Skills

  • Two years of Commercial Lines insurance experience
  • Two years of Commercial General Liability, Commercial Property, or BOP Underwriting Experience
  • Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), or Associate in Commercial Underwriting (AU) designation

Schedule: Monday – Friday

Compensation

  • $54,200 - $87,300 annually depending on position level and experience
  • Gainshare annual cash incentive payment up to 16-24% (depending on position level) of your eligible earnings based on company performance
