· DAY: 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM

· AFTERNOON: 3:00 - 11:00 PM

· MIDNIGHT: 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM

ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW:

Turning Point, Inc in Mount Clemens, MI is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization qualified employer for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF). Turning Point, Inc empowers domestic and sexual violence survivors through comprehensive services and resources while advocating for community action to end oppression and violence. We offer emergency shelter, housing, trauma advocacy services, forensic nurse examiner program & first response advocacy services, 24-hour hotline, personal protection order and legal advocacy services, and community outreach.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Upon completion of training, the Hotline Advocate provides support, safety planning, and resources to callers, including those who are limited-English speaking or hearing impaired. The Hotline Advocate must be a critical and analytical thinker, work well with diverse and multi-disciplinary teams, communicate and write effectively, be highly organized, flexible, able to troubleshoot, and must be resourceful. The Hotline Advocates will execute job duties, and responsibilities from an intersectional, and anti-oppression framework while upholding the values, and the mission of Turning Point.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Implement agency and program mission and empowerment philosophy.

· Administer and implement agency policies, procedures, and protocols.

· Maintain agency policy on confidentiality, record keeping, and professional ethics.

· Answer calls on Turning Point's 24-hour Hotline, providing crisis intervention, support, resources, and safety planning.

· Collect, track, analyze and complete data reporting in alignment with requirements for both the agency, as well as adhering to funder requirements.

· Promote, support, and demonstrate the mission, vision, and values of Turning Point through both behaviors, and job performance as well as adhere to policies, procedures, and standards on a day-to-day basis.

· Participate in internal and external training as needed. Please note there is mandatory initial training prior to being put on the schedule.

· Make referrals to other organizations for services, including legal services, mental health services, and other forms of advocacy and support.

· Notify the Director of Hotline Services of any emergency situations that may affect Turning Point staff and/or clients.

· Participate in peer reviews.

· Participate in applicable staff, committee meetings, and other meetings deemed necessary by Turning Point, Inc.

· Maintain positive relationships with staff to promote team morale, mutual respect, improvement of Agency services and internal customer service.

· Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

·Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Human Services, Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Education, or a related field preferred.

· 1 year of experience in the field of social services, sexual assault crisis intervention, and or hotline/intervention experience preferred.

· Prior experience working with domestic and sexual violence survivors.

· Experience with trauma-informed direct services.

· Knowledge of cultural and societal influences on domestic and sexual violence survivors

· In-depth knowledge about the impact and long-term consequences of domestic and sexual violence.· Knowledge/skills of an empowerment strength-based model.· Knowledge of community resources.

· A deep commitment to social justice, and anti-oppression work.

· Demonstrated leadership ability.

· The ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively, in a team environment.

· Excellent written, interpersonal, and oral communications skills.

· Ability to communicate with individuals from diverse cultures and backgrounds.

· Shift work or on-call experience preferred.

· Must have reliable transportation, insurance, a valid Michigan Driver's License, and a good driving record.

· Must pass central registry and criminal background check as a condition of employment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

· Must be able to work independently and multi-task in a fast-paced office environment.

· Allow for flexibility in schedule, work location and job function.

· Ability and willingness to be available for non-scheduled emergency call-in when necessary.

· Ability to lift 20lbs.

· Ability to operate general office equipment.

SALARY:

Compensation is paid at an hourly rate starting at $14.00 and is commensurate with qualifications. Paid and unpaid time off is available for employees to promote wellness and self-care. Additionally, Turning Point will provide ongoing training and professional development opportunities. Medical insurance including health, vision, dental, and more are available to Full-Time employees.
